The founder of MAVI

I have always believed that the sculptor Octavio Martínez Charry is capable of going beyond walls. He himself is a door through which he passes, open to all the wonderful mornings of the world. Such is his rapport with the void, to which he has been able to erect the monument of his own work.Specialized in handling the heaviest materials, in smelting deadly lavas, in bending the hardness of the element with fiery tongs, the hard soul of his work through a prodigy of non-existence becomes ungraspable, since it relies on complete nothingness to pose the forceful presence of the ghost.'What counts in a container is the internal emptiness,' says a minimal Zen. 'Why are there things and not nothing?' Gonzalo Arango asked himself in a poem. And the mathematician Valery finished off reality with this trick: «There is nothing as beautiful as what does not exist».
